1 Corinthians 3

Today we are reading 1 Corinthians 3

My favorite verses were 16-17

It says,            16"Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?17 If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's tenole is holy, and you are that temple. 18 Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. (ESV)
I like verse 16 because it tells us that we are God's temple and God's sprit is in us. That is very cool becasue when you think about it, the Spirit of the God who made everything is in you. And it doesn't just say that, but it also says that we are His temple (meaning His Christian examples to others), and by being temples of God we should set good examples, because if we don't, people looking at our Christian faith will get the wrong idea of what God is about. Verse 17 it means that if anyone trys to destroy God's temples He will destroy them if they don't repent. Verse 18 says that if anyone is full of pride, he should become a fool so that he will become wise.

I liked verses 4-7

4For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not being merely human?
5What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each. 6I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.
1 Corinthians 3:4-7

Paul or Apollos (or in today's time, a pastor or religious leader) should not be the person we follow. Our faith should lie in the Lord, because the Lord is the one who is doing to growth, not a person. God uses pastors and leaders to accomplish his work and giving glory to a person defeats the purpose of God using him in the first place.

But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames. (1 Corinthians 3:15 NLT)

I don't want my life to be like the builder who has nothing to show for all his life and buildings. We don't have much time on earth so we need to get as close as possible to God because that's the only way to do anything that will last. If you feel like you aren't accomplishing things in your life you aren't unless you are doing eternal things like growing closer to God or leading others to Christ. That verse convicted me to lead a Christ productive life

I like verses 5-9, because it talks about other Christians doing the work of God for him, but God makes those works grow. All Christians have a special job given to them from God, but in the end, we all are rewarded the same. For we are God's workers, God's field, and God's building.

I liked vures 8 because it talks about takeing all of the bad things in your life and putting them away, not letting them get to you and letting them boil up instide of youand makeing you madder or meaner to people.
