Revelation 3:1-13 (Wednesday)

Hello impact people, today is Wednesday and that means tonight is bible study in which Brian will be finishing up Corinthians and I will start Revelation. We will be covering Revelation 3:1-13.

To the Church in Sardis

The angel says Wake Up! Because they are slowly losing their values and their deeds unfinished.  Remember what the Lord gave you and repent.  If you don’t He will come at an unexpected time like a thief and bad tings will happen man.  Although a couple of you are still worthy and they will walk with him.  He who overcomes will not have their name blotted out from the book of life.

To the Church in Philadelphia

I have placed an unclosable door before you. Though you are weak you keep my name.  The false Jews will fall at your feet and know that I love you.  Also I will let you exempt from the hour of trial while everyone else still has to do it.  I am coming soon, hold on tight.  He who overcomes will be made a pillar in the house of God and never leave it and get a new name.

The first church was losing who they were in the faith and running out of time. The Philadelphia church was the second good church (Smyrna was the first). They kept the name of the lord.

That’s all for today guys except for bible study tonight. See you there!

Christ’s warning to the church of Laodicea is that they are neither hot nor cold but luke warm and He will spit them out.

We had a violin teacher that used to use this on the kids when they would play a C# too flat. To play the C# properly on the A string of a Violin you place a finger just under the marking on the fingerboard. If you place it on the marking--it's too high and that's a D. It has to be just under the D marking.

If someone placed the finger right between the C and D marking, the teacher would say--no you have to put it right NEXT to the D marking but not on it, and not too low.

If you're too high or too low, you are lukewarm and I will spit you out!

I liked verse 3.

Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you. Revelations 3:3

God says that He is going to come as a thief in the night. Always act like God will come any second because you don't want to be doing something He doesn't like when He comes back.

Today when I was reading I liked verse 8 and verse 10.

Verse 8:
“I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me. (NLT)

This verse is talking about how God sees everything we do. It then says that if we please him then he has opened a doorway for us, which will bring us to heaven with him. Only God will be able to close this doorway. Next it talks about standing up for God even when people are putting him down. This is really important because we can't deny him and we can't worry about what the other people will think of us because people need to hear about God.

Verse 10:
“Because you have obeyed my command to persevere, I will protect you from the great time of testing that will come upon the whole world to test those who belong to this world. (NLT)

This verse goes along with verse 8 because if you have done what verse 8 say to do, (tell others about God no matter what they might think). You will be rewarded, we will not be tested by God with the people in this world that did not try to reach the lost.
