1 Corinthians 8

Good morning everyone! It's been a week since we have started the book of 1 Corinthians. I thought yesterday’s youth meeting was very interesting. Everyone had amazing questions about verses and also shared the verses that they like. We didn't even get through all 7 chapters, so we will be continuing those chapters next week on Wednesday. Again thank you everyone for contributing in the discussion yesterday, and hope everyone had a good time!

1 Corinthians chapter 8 talks about food offerings to idols. It talks about pagans sacrificing food to their idols. It says that pagans think it’s a sin to eat the sacrificed foods meant for the idols. But in verse 8 it says Food will not commend us to God. We are no worse off if we do not eat, and no better off if we do.
This verse means that since we know that there is only one God, it is not a sin to eat food sacrificed for idols, because since we know that there is one God (which is Jesus), there is no such things as the pagan idols, which means there is no sin in eating its sacrificed food.

7 However, not all possess this knowledge. But some, through former association with idols, eat food as really offered to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled. 8 Food will not commend us to God. We are no worse off if we do not eat, and no better off if we do. 9 But take care that this right of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak. 10 For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating[c] in an idol's temple, will he not be encouraged,[d] if his conscience is weak, to eat food offered to idols?

Does anyone know what this means!? I dont get it at all!
