Hebrews 5

Today is Hebrews 5!
Hebrews 5 is a good chapter, but it talks about some heavy stuff. The writer is telling the Hebrews bout Jesus, but he has to stop because the Hebrews are not mature enough in their walk with Christ to listen to him. He then writes that by now they should have been teaching others about Jesus, but they still don't even know the basic principles of following Him.

These verses stuck out to me:

11There is much more we would like to say about this, but it is difficult to explain, especially since you are spiritually dull and don’t seem to listen. 12You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food.

This description includes me and most people I know, because I've been a Christian 12 years and I have barely grown closer to God. Luckily Hebrews 5 also adresses what to do about this.

4Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong.

Christians need to train themselves in God's Word by reading it and applying it to our lives. Then we will know what the right and wrong things to do are, and we can grow in our faith.

Ok so today is Hebrews 5. I really liked verse 8, it says: Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered.
I think that's pretty cool because when we suffer our initial reaction isn't to obey the person we believe is causing us pain. Instead our natural reaction is to be mad and selfish and to turn away from God when we go through storms in our life. I have definitely turned away from God before but now I realize life in the stormy times are actually way worse without him. Jesus is an example to us because when he suffered he stuck in obedience to God.
