Hello everyone, today is Thursday and we are going over Revelation Chapter 3 verses 14-22 or the last church. It’s not a lot but I’d rather start fresh with chapter 4 tomorrow rather than do a little chunk of it today.
To the Church in Laodicea
This is where the famous “lukewarm” phrase comes from. Verse 16 “So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.” Being lukewarm is worse than being cold because when you are lukewarm you are comfortable. You have no motivation to change because you have everything the way you like it. If you were cold, you would realize the need for change and repent. That is why being lukewarm is worse than being cold. And cold, hot and lukewarm are all metaphors for the quality of your relationship with God. The angel explains this in verse 17. The angel then advises them to buy refined gold so that they can be rich and to buy white clothes to hide their nakedness and put medicine on their eyes so that they can see. He basically calls them poor, naked, and blind and most likely he is speaking in a spiritual sense. The angel says that he punishes and corrects the people that he loves because nothing is more important than us living right. He loves us enough to say no to the things we want and yes to the things we need so that our life will be on track with Gods plan. Verse 20 “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and eat with you. And you will eat with me.” He is right there. All we have to do is open the door.
That’s it for today. See you guys tomorrow. Take care, bush you hair.

I also liked verse 16! I really liked how you explained it Matt! I highlighted this verse because I had heard it over and over so I was like: "oh here is the verse!"
I also really liked verse 20:
“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. (NLT)
This talks about how God is always there wanting to be part of our lives. When we do let him and accept him, he is so happy that a party is thrown in our honor in Heaven and we get to live the rest of our life with God.
I liked these verses: "I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. (Revelation 3:15-17 ESV)
Because it is telling us that to us, we may be rich, but to God, we are poor, and if we are poor on Earth, God views us as rich. The rich on Earth start to fill their own selfish needs rather than continuing on with fulfilling God's need.
I like verse 19
Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.
I liked this verse a lot because it is Jesus telling us that He disciplines us because He loves us!
