Romans 13

Romans 13 talks a lot about trusting authority and how love is the answer.

Romans 13 starts by talking about how authority is something everyone need to honor. It says that people are put into authority roles because God wants them there, so we should honor them and do what they say. It says: Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in position of authority have been placed there by God. (2) So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished. (Romans 13:1-2 NLT).

Next Romans 13 talked about how love is so important. When you love your neighbor as yourself you will be fulfilling what God wants you to do. It says: For the commandments say, "you must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet." These- and other such commandments- are summed up in this one commandment: "Love your neighbor as yourself." (10) Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God's law. (Romans 13:9-10 NLT).

The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living.
(Romans 13:14 NLT)
I liked this verse it points out that the world could end whenever. We should live everyday in a way that pleases God because we may not get another one. A great way to live is to love your neighbor as yourself as verse 9 says. Its really hard to love people if you don't really like them. But a good way to try to do this is to find the good in that person. It's hard but with God's help we can do it:) ~abby<3

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Romans 13:1 (ESV)

This means every government has been instituted by God. When you think of it this what, breaking a law means you are breaking one of God's set rules that He made through the government. I have one question about this. What if a government tell you to do something wrong? Like in the case of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego a leader told them to bow to idols. I think in a case like this you obey God first then the government.

9For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet," and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." 10Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Romans 13:9-10

Most of the commandments could be summed up with one: love you neighbor as yourself. I like the way Jackie said it. When you love your neighbor as yourself you will be fulfilling what God wants you to do. Because in verse 10 it says, "therefore love is fulfilling of the law."

Wow Abby I love what you said! It is true it is hard to love someone if they are really annoying! So I really liked what you said about finding the good in that person and then that will help you!

Joe I really liked what you said about when the government is telling you to do something wrong. I like that you said that we should first do what God says and then do what the government says.

Um Abby that was v. 12 lol. I liked the real verse 14 which is. But let The Lord Jesus Christ take control of you, and don't think of ways to indulge your evil desires.
No matter how hard you try to follow God you r going to mess up. The only way to not be a slave to sin is to let Jesus take control of your life. Even though its hard I need to give everything to Him.
