It'll be easier for me to get back into the habit of reading with the break coming up.

All I could get from this chapter was that there was a guy named Melchizedec who met Abraham when returning from the rescue of Lot. He is sort of compared and contrasted with Christ. I didn't look a lot into exactly what Hebrews 7 was talking about, but it did make me think about how I am representing Christ as a Christian. Am I being like Melchinzedec who is even called "the King of Righteousness" or can my friends at school not even see a difference between me and non-Christians.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1286611496303138041.post-19441213687792423572013-11-24T07:34:22.835-05:002013-11-24T07:34:22.835-05:00good stuff man

I really liked verse 8, it says: Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered.
I think that's pretty cool because when we suffer our initial reaction isn't to obey the person we believe is causing us pain. Instead our natural reaction is to be mad and selfish and to turn away from God when we go through storms in our life. I have definitely turned away from God before but now I realize life in the stormy times are actually way worse without him. Jesus is an example to us because when he suffered he stuck in obedience to God.
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10316645936675907765noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1286611496303138041.post-26171080679860761512013-11-21T22:07:07.964-05:002013-11-21T22:07:07.964-05:00DoneDoneAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10531645757399530008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1286611496303138041.post-61670251896190625642013-11-20T14:58:57.363-05:002013-11-20T14:58:57.363-05:00Those are all great verses you picked out. I had a few I really liked.

3For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses-as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself. 4(For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.)
Hebrews 3:3-4

I especially loved the second part of these verses because it reminds me of the apologetics conference. It basically says that every house (or everything) must have a builder, and if you keep going back to find who built what, you end up with God, the builder of all things. This reminded me of the example of the chain links which each are dependent on the one above to float. Haha I wonder if anyone else remembers this.

Can't wait for Chickfila tonight to dig into this.Joe Hinklehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11046530644718230784noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1286611496303138041.post-59088309645554974142013-11-19T20:47:41.481-05:002013-11-19T20:47:41.481-05:00DoneDoneAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1286611496303138041.post-66974364211446359212013-11-19T07:21:16.929-05:002013-11-19T07:21:16.929-05:00This first chapter is clarifying to the Hebrews ex...This first chapter is clarifying to the Hebrews exactly who Christ is--- that he isn't an angel.
